Christmas Boat Parade Committee Donates Extra Funds to 'Toys For Tots'

March 13, 2006 – Two St. Croix Christmas traditions came together this week when the St. Croix Christmas Boat Parade committee made a generous donation to "Toys For Tots."
Committee chairman Martin Oliver praised the Christiansted business community for its support and promised an even bigger Christmas Boat Parade this December.
As the committee treasurer, Sal Sanpere was successful in raising donations that not only fully funded the event, but allowed for the excess to be given to the local
Marine Corps Association to fund its "Toys For Tots" efforts.
A check for $2,000 was presented to Carl Gotts of the St. Croix Marine Corps Association.
Gotts said, "Toys For Tots" is a well-known Marine Corps tradition and over the past 10 years has become a St. Croix Christmas tradition as well. "My fellow Marines and I are very grateful for the Boat Parade committee's generous donation."
