Jarvis Elementary Holds Family Reading Nights

March 15, 2006 – J. Antonio Jarvis Elementary School will host Family Reading Nights through May. Parents and students are encouraged to come out and enjoy reading for pleasure on three evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the school's main campus.
The events will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. They have been scheduled for March 21 and 23, April 18 and 20, and May 16 and 18.
This initiative has been scheduled to encourage parental involvement and improve the reading skills of the territory's students, according to a press release from the Department of Education.
"At Family Reading Night, families will spend quality time together promoting reading and having fun, " said Jarvis literacy coach, Janice Gottlieb-Kennings. "A special attraction of the evenings is the Parents Corner, where parents can obtain tips and suggestions towards assisting their children with improving their reading."
