Feb. 23, 2006 – The Committee for the Betterment of Carenage (CBC Inc.), announced the dates for the pre-Mother's Day Fishing Tournament will be on Sunday, April 2, and the pre-Father's Day Fishing Tournament will be on Sunday, June 11, both in Frenchtown. Registration for the pre-Father's Day Tournament is June 10.
The rules stipulate that the female anglers will take to the local waters beginning at 6 a.m., and all fishing must end by noon, with boats returning to the Gustave Quetel Fishing Center. Prizes will be awarded to the angler who snags the heaviest fish, the most fish by quantity and weight, and the most unusual fish. Best captain and youngest angler awards will also be presented.
In the pre-Father's Day tournament, a top prize of $2,000 cash will be awarded to the male angler who catches the largest qualifying fish. Other prizes will be awarded in these categories: angler with the most number of fish, angler with most weight, best captain, total boat weight, most unusual fish and the youngest angler with fish by weight, according to the press release from CBC Inc.
Prizes for both tournaments will be announced during the Father's Day weekend celebration, June 16-18, at the Joseph Aubain Ball Park.
