Dear Source:
Barbara Christian was the most wonderful professor. She was a passionate, extremely intelligent woman who loved opening the eyes of her students to Black, Caribbean, female writers. I had the honor of taking one course with her. It was the most memorable course I ever took, either at Barnard College, or Cal Berkeley. Professor Christian loved language, the words, the rhythm, and the meaning. It was apparent to all that she loved her life and loved teaching. I am thrilled that Cal has dedicated a building in honor of her memory.
