Police Make Arrest in St. Croix's Most Recent Murder

April 19, 2006 – Police have arrested 30-year-old Timothy Lynch Sr., of Sion Farm, in connection with the shooting death of Ira Cruse Jr.
Cruse was shot and killed at 1 p.m. Friday, April 14 outside his home in Estate Mon Bijou.
Lynch was arrested at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, according to Police spokeswoman Shawna K. Richards.
Lynch is charged with first-degree murder in a warrant issued Friday by Superior Court Judge Darryl Donahue. Lynch is also charged with possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of ammunition.
Lynch, whose bail was set at $500,000, has been unable to post bail and is being held at the Golden Grove Correctional Facility on St. Croix.
Despite the arrest, a release from the V.I. Police Department said the investigation is ongoing.
Richards could not say when an advice of rights hearing was scheduled.
Anyone with information on the shooting or any other crimes is asked to call the Major Crime Unit on St. Thomas at 715-5534, 715-5546 or the hotline at 715-5544. On St. Croix call the Crime Investigations Bureau at 778-2211 ext, 6031, 6033, 6037 or 6082 or the hotline at 778-4950. In either district call 911. All information will be held in strict confidence, the release said.
