Applicants for YouthBuild Being Accepted

May 2, 2006 – The Virgin Islands Housing Authority's Department of Public Relations and Resident Services is taking applicants for the third YouthBuild United States Virgin Islands Program in the St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix Districts.
YouthBuild is a program that offers opportunities for unemployed, out of school or unskilled young adults ages 16-24. It helps them to earn their GED, acquire job skills and learn construction trades through classroom and on-site training. Leadership skills development, adult mentorship, counseling and support services to assist with personal challenges are also components of the program.
Residents of public housing and Section 8 may obtain registration forms from the YouthBuild office in Oswald Harris Court, all property managers' offices, and the VIHA central offices on St. Thomas and St. Croix, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday through Friday.
For more information, call Diahann Ryan at 714-2102 or 715-7332, on St. Thomas, or Mildred Nieves at 713-2365, on St. Croix.
