Memorial Service Set for Jacqueline Turner

June 13, 2006 B Long time island resident Jacqueline Turner, died June 8. She was 54.
Turner had worked in real estate, and for the past two years, taught special education at Addelita Cancryn Junior High School.
Ahmed Popo, Cancryn assistant principal, praised Turner. He said Tuesday, "She was an extraordinary educator. She made rapid strides in the use of technology in her classes."
On a more personal note, Popo said, "She was a very nurturing and caring person. All her students were concerned; they said she was a 'very nice-natured' teacher."
Popo said the school had a moment of silence for Turner, after receiving the news of her death.
A memorial service will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the John Thomas Funeral Chapel.
Turner was born in McKeesport, Pa. She is survived by her sister, Judith Turner-Flanigan; brother-in-law Michael Flanigan; nephews, Thomas, Brian and Corey; and grand-nieces Lona, Layla, Valkyrie and Anubis.
Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the John Thomas Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.
