Schneider Hospital Honors Two Employees

June 22, 2006 – Schneider Regional Medical Center honored two employees for outstanding service on St. Thomas.
Cynthia Rice, graduate nurse program director and administrative care coordinator, and Morris Potter, hospital driver/chauffeur, are being honored today at a V.I. Government awards luncheon at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef. Rice is being honored as SRMC "Employee of the Year" and Potter is receiving an "Outstanding Performance Award."
Since her arrival at Schneider Regional three years ago, Rice has been in charge of nursing recruitment programs that have produced 23 registered nurses and three licensed practical nurses who went on to work at SRMC. She also teaches clinical educational components to nursing staff at Schneider Regional. She is helping to ease the shortage of nurses significantly, according to a press release from Schneider Medical Center. "Thanks to her, many local nursing graduates are staying right at home to help their community," said President and CEO of SRMC Rodney E. Miller Sr.
Miller also commended Morris Potter as an employee who "goes above and beyond the call of duty" in his work at Schneider Regional.
"Morris's title may be 'driver,' but he does so much more than that – transporting patients, delivering critical blood supplies, and in general being available at a moment's notice to help both the Roy L. Hospital and the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute," Miller said. "As our driver for administration, he is the grease that keeps the hospital running smoothly."
