Bohlke, Taylor Finish Tops in Olympic Day Run

June 25, 2006 – Billy Bohlke and Mikiesh Taylor led the way with first-place finishes in the men's and women's division in the 20th Olympic Day Run held Saturday afternoon at the University St. Croix.
A handful of runners and Olympic Committee officials took part in the event, which was hosted by the University of the Virgin Island's Cooperative Extension Service 4-H Program.
Bohlke ran the two-mile course in 9 minutes and 49 seconds; Taylor's time was 15:40.
Clint Smith of St. Croix Educational Complex (ECHS) was
second in 12:58 and Lester Liburd of ECHS was third in 13:23.
Phylis Livergood of Hershey, Penn., was the second-place female in 18:29.
Hans Lawaetz, president of the V.I. Olympic Committee; Dr. Marlon Williams, vice president; and Sen. Ronald Russell made remarks at the start of the run about the Olympic movement and upcoming competitions.
Participants included members of Olympic Committee federations and all who support the movement, including
Pat Hensley, president of the V.I. Swimming Federation, who ran the race in 17:54.
Former Olympians Keith Smith and Adrian Durant, club coaches and others were on hand to lend their support as well.
