V.I. High School Track Stars Race in Puerto Rico

July 10, 2006 – V.I. high school runners competed in the Caribbean International Scholastic Classic in Carolina, P.R., last weekend, facing teams from the U.S., Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands.
Calvin Dascent took second place in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 48.32 behind Trey Harts of the U.S. Dascent also took second in the 200m with a personal best 22.10. Again Harts was first.
Davis Walters took third in the 100m in 10.88 behind Harts' teammate Karjuan Williams.
The V.I. Team of Demitrius Jefferson, Lester Liburd, David Walters and Calvin Dascent took third in the 4x400m relay.
Juan Robles took fourth in the 1500m and finished seventh in the 800m.
Chadiola Chumney finished fifth in the 200m and eighth in the 400m.
Jefferson finished fifth in the 400m; and Liburd finished seventh.
The invitational meet was staged at the Carolina Track and Field Stadium under the affiliation of the National Scholastic Sports Foundation; the Fundacion Puertorriquena Pro Desarrollo del Deport de Athletismo; Escuela de los Deportes German Reickhoff Sampayo; and the Municipio Autonomo de Carolina.
The V.I. team was funded through the assistance of the V.I. Olympic Committee, the International Association of Athletic Federation and the V.I. Track and Field Federation.
