July 21, 2006–Because of unforeseen changes in her congressional schedule, Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen said today that she will not be a part of the Virgin Islands delegation to Ghana this upcoming week.
"Since this will be our last week of session until September, it is important that I remain in Washington," Christensen said Friday. "When I consented to go on the trip it was earlier this year and it was contingent on the early resolution of some of our issues," the delegate said. "Since there are several issues of major concern before us, I will be unable to travel to Ghana. I have expressed my regrets to Ghanaian officials and the hopes that I will be able to visit next year." The delegate added that Mr. Corbin, Mr. Jackson and Mr. Moorhead will represent the territory well.
