July 31, 2006–Police are investigating the shooting deaths of two men killed on St. Croix over the last three days.
Police spokeswoman Shawna Richards said the first incident occurred Friday evening, around 8 p.m., in Estate Barren Spot. The victim of the incident has been identified as 38-year-old Edgar Sheridan.
"Police responded to the scene after receiving reports from residents who said they heard between five or six shots fired in the area," Richards said. "They are still investigating claims that a vehicle was seen leaving the scene at a rate of high speed."
She added that Sheridan was transferred to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. Friday.
Sheridan was a resident of Estate Barren Spot.
Another shooting, in the Gallows Bay area early Monday, left 40-year-old Gregory Ford dead, Richards said.
"According to preliminary Police reports, Ford had left his house and was walking toward his vehicle when he was shot by an unknown assailant," she said. "Police are still investigating claims that a gray four-door car was seen leaving the area after the shooting."
Ford was a resident of Gallows Bay.
