Alert: 4-Ton Vehicles Prohibited from Scott Free

Sept. 1, 2006 – Vehicles weighing four or more tons are prohibited from using the Scott Free Road. Signs posted about the restriction at the intersections of Scott Free and Crown Mountain Road and Scott Free and Solberg Road are being ignored by some drivers.
Bryan Chick Construction Services is currently repairing a collapsed portion of the road at the Crown Mountain end and traffic there is restricted to one lane. When the work began in August, Public Works Commissioner George Phillips said he would try to keep the one lane open, and he repeated that in a release issued from Government House on Friday.
But as a result of drivers ignoring the four-ton restriction, Phillips said that debris has been falling into the work zone, creating hazardous conditions for workers and slowing down the work.
He hasn't yet closed the road to all traffic, but asked the motorists to obey the signs.
