Arts Alive to Present Violinist Patmore Lewis

Sept. 12, 2006 – Arts Alive will present classical violinist Patmore Lewis as part of its Concerts in the Garden series at 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Tillet Gardens on St. Thomas.
A native son, Lewis is an associate violinist in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra of New York City. He also performs as soloist and chamber musician in the U.S. and Europe. The violinist made his Carnegie Hall recital debut in November of 1992 and has performed live on NPR radio broadcasts, with singer Jessye Norman, and with Henry Threadgill's Jazz Windstring Ensemble.
Although his name can be found on numerous recordings, his only solo recording, "From the Soul," released in 1997 in the U.K., is out of print but can still be purchased at Amazon.com or on Ebay. His solo recitals in France, Great Britain and Switzerland have won him critical acclaim and a great rapport with the audience.
Tickets for the concert are $30. Tickets for the show and prix fixe dinner are $66, including gratuity (cocktails not included); reservations are recommended. Tickets are available in Tillett Gardens at the Kazooti Clay Studio 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For more information and to make reservations, call 776-8566.
This program is funded in part by the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
