Vitelco Is Not World Class Now

Dear Source:
I was amazed to read that Dan Hazen considered Vitelco "world class" when he left employment in 1988. When it rains, some of my friends lose their service completely. Vitelco certainly hasn't been world class during the eight and a half years I have lived here. Phone outages that last for many weeks have been experienced during this past year alone. I don't know how much more "rural" than that a phone company could be. Whatever happens in the future, would somebody please bury all the utility lines and insulate them? It is utterly ridiculous to live on an island subject to hurricanes and have phone and power go out because lines and poles are down. I love this island, but it certainly can be exasperating.
