Sept. 16, 2006 – Gov. Charles W. Turnbull signed five bills into law on Friday. All the bills, which were approved during a recent legislative session, honor and commend various V.I. residents for their contributions to the community.
The bills:
–honor and commend former Attorney General Alva Swan, and name the Bureau of Corrections Annex on St. Thomas the "Alva Allen Swan Bureau of Corrections Annex";
–honor and commend Arthur Abel for his contributions to the St. Croix community, and name the old Danish School building on Prince Street in Frederiksted the "Arthur Abel Complex";
–honor and commend Caspar Holstein for his contributions to the "people of the Virgin Islands," and name Route 65 on St Croix the "Caspar Holstein Drive";
–honor and commend former Sen. Fritz Lawaetz for his contributions, and name the Legislative Conference Room on St. Croix the "Fritz E. Lawaetz Legislative Conference Room"; and
–honor and commend "Milo and the Kings" (now called "Milo's Kings") for their "outstanding contributions to the Virgin Islands over five decades."
