Notice to all Construction Sites Requiring Tracked Vehicles

Sept. 21, 2006 The Department of Public Works informs the public that it is illegal for 'tracked' vehicles to travel on asphalt or concrete road surfaces without providing protection, such as tires or plywood, to eliminate or reduce damage to roads. Those caught operating tracked vehicles on paved surfaces may be cited under Title 20, Section 511 and Title 23, Section 125 of the V. I. code and required to pay for all repairs and be fined $500 for the first offense.
According to a press release from Commissioner George W. Phillips of Public Works, there have been many complaints. The department requests all citizens to report 'tracked' vehicles traveling on paved surfaces to the St. John office at 776-6346.
