FYI: Christensen Participates in Cancer Society Event

Sept. 25, 2006 – A long time participant in the local Relays for Life at home, Delegate Christensen joined Virgin Islands delegates to the American Cancer Society's Celebration on the Hill on the Mall in Washington D.C. last Wednesday.
"I was pleased to join Louis Jackson and Luz Rodriguez from St. Croix and Barbara Peterson and Claudia O'Neal from St. Thomas as we all focused on the important work that the American Cancer Society does across the country and in the territory to bring the awareness necessary to the issues surrounding cancer to the attention of policymakers."
Delegate Christensen joined the delegation in the team's tent shared with Puerto Rico for the opening ceremony in the morning and again last night for the luminary walk and ceremony.
"It was a very moving experience and I was also very proud to see our portion of the Wall of Hope and to find the signatures of so many Virgin Islanders, including my own on display. I commend all who have worked so hard to support our residents with cancer and their families."
The American Cancer Society holds the Washington, D.C. event every four years.
