Put Yourself in a Tourist's Place

Dear Source:
I would like to commend Sandi Pomeroy for her insight as to what would help the tourists and tourism in STT. I have been to STT several times on cruises and find her suggestions at the core of what is needed. She pinpoints many great ideas, and I agree that these wouldn't cost a lot of money. Maybe the government could help. In fact maybe the businesses could assist. You have a beautiful island, but her suggestions would make it a more desirable place to visit, as well as live.
Put yourselves in a tourist's place. You are in a strange location that you know little about. A good map showing points of interest, entertainment and public rest rooms, and other highlights would be very helpful, and maybe allow people to stay a little longer and not just shop and run back to the ship.
One thing Ms. Pomeroy did not mention was security. In all of the times I have been to STT, I have never seen or encountered a policeman. I find, if I browse in a clean, cheerful and secure environment, I spend more money and am not in a hurry to leave.
Just think, your island would become the jewel of the Caribbean and make people want to come back. She has some innovative ideas.
