Oct. 16, 2006 – High school runners dominated the West Indies Lab 5 Miler road race on Saturday on St. Croix. Juan Robles, a senior at St. Croix Central High School, who won the first race in the V.I. Pace Runners/4-H Cross-Country Series on Wednesday, repeated his win today as he cruised through the hills of East End Road from Teague Bay to Southgate with a time of 29 minutes and 52 seconds. Richard Jeanpierre was second in 35:52; Jose Reyes, also of CHS and closing on second place, was third in 36:06; Ephain Rodriquez of CHS was fourth in 39:58; Fred Flint was fifth in 42:48 and Todd Nurnberger was sixth in 52:14.
CHS French teacher Earthla Augustin was the first female finisher in 4:29; Elizabeth Nurnberger was second in 51:58; Amy Harris tied for second; and Judi Fricks was third in 52:14.
The next race on the V.I. Pace calendar is the second race in V.I. Pace Runners/4-H Cross-Countries series at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at UVI, St. Croix.
