Free Mammograms Offered Through October 31

Oct. 21, 2006 – As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Schneider Regional Medical Center, the American Cancer Society and St. Thomas Radiology are offering free mammograms to uninsured patients and breast cancer exams through Oct. 31.
Because space is limited, women over 40 are strongly urged to call the radiology department at SRMC at 776-8311 ext. 2334/2309, or St. Thomas Radiology at 774-0265, to schedule their appointment.
Patients who have insurance are required to submit their insurance at time of service. Patients without insurance are required to fill out an application form. Breast exams will be performed at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
The public is also invited to attend a free seminar on breast cancer given by Dr. Shirnett Williamson, CKCI medical director, at noon, Monday, Oct. 23, at the CKCI Auditorium.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women but can be beaten if caught early.
