Election Night Radio Coverage Available on the Internet

Nov. 6, 2007 WVWI Radio One will team with Educational Radio WIUJ 102.9 FM to bring live radio coverage of the 2006 vote. The coverage will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday and will continue until the final vote is counted. Off islanders can log onto www.wiuj.com to hear political analysts James O'Bryan Jr. and Simon K. Caines and WVWI news director Jean Greaux review the campaigning leading up to the big day, as well as discuss Election Day activity.
The trends in all races will be analyzed leading up to the vote count which will begin once the polls close at 7 p.m., according to Greaux. At the end of the evening, listeners will hear a live broadcast from the campaign headquarters of the winning gubernatorial candidate.
The simulcast will allow those outside the territory to listen to live, comprehensive coverage of Election Day in the Virgin Islands, Greaux said in a release from the station.
He said, "For a few weeks now, Radio One has experienced problems with its website at www.wvwi.net rendering the station unable to sustain its live audio stream to the Internet," hence the arrangement to join WIUJ to bring coverage to those outside the territory via the Internet. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. AST.
