VICARE Sponsors 12th Annual AIDS Walk

Nov. 13, 2006 Virgin Islands Community AIDS Resource and Education Inc. is sponsoring their 12th Annual AIDS Walk through the rainforest to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the V. I.
Individual and team participants are asked to collect pledges. Proceeds will benefit HIV/AIDS education, prevention and support services provided by VICARE. Awards will be presented to the team and the individual who raise the most in pledges as well as the team with the most participants.
Participants will gather at 6:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Lawaetz Museum, Little Grange n Mahogany Road, Frederiksted. There will be an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m., and the 5-mile walk will begin at 7:45 a.m. The walk is pet friendly.
Participants can pick up pledge forms from The Palms of Pelican Cove, Gallows Bay Hardware, Villa Morales, Denovo Spa and Therapy Centre, VI Fitness and Sport Center and American Paradise Gym in Golden Rock, Christiansted. The forms can also be downloaded from the VICARE Web site: www.vicareinc.org
VICARE has a staff of 12 who provide counseling, testing, risk reduction and prevention to the people of the V. I. It also supports services for people with HIV/AIDS that include housing support, case management services, youth programs, condom distribution and advocacy for those living with the disease.
