Phone Service Out From Bovoni to Frenchman's Bay

Nov. 28, 2006 — Telephones from Bovoni to Frenchman's Bay went out Monday night, according to an Innovative Telephone spokeswoman, but residents of the area said the phones in some places have been down since Sunday.
The company expects to solve the problem late Tuesday or sometime Wednesday, Janette Millin Young said Tuesday afternoon.
Problems with the optic terminal equipment servicing those areas caused the outage, according to Young.
"It's technical," she said.
Company engineers were unsuccessful despite repeated efforts to solve the problem, Innovative President David L. Sharp said in a news release. Engineers from the manufacturing company are now working to solve the problem, he said.
Young said she didn't know how many customers were affected. Customers must call the 912 repair operator to report their outage in order to get credit on their phone bill, she said.
The company is offering complimentary call forwarding to functioning lines for affected customers. Innovative apologized for the inconvenience.
