Botanical Garden Will Hold 'The Magic of Christmas' Gala

Dec. 4, 2006 – This year's Christmas Gala at the St. George Village Botanical Garden, with the theme "The Magic Christmas," will begin at 6:30 pm on Friday, Dec. 8.
At the gala there will be 10 live Christmas trees, decorated by talented volunteers, and they will be auctioned off by radio personality Roger W. Morgan. Connie Lemco, with the help of Gallows Bay Frame's Jim Bierowski and the group of artists known as the Pallatteers, will again create the sought-after Artistree again. More than 60 Virgin Islands artists contribute original miniature paintings to grace the tree. This is a great way to add to a collection of original island art while helping support the garden.
There will be more special surprises in store for those who want to have a live decorated tree in their home. Some winning bidders generously donate the tree to the charity of their choice the Queen Louise Home, the Herbert Griggs Home for the Aged or the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital rather than keeping it for their own enjoyment. The Garden Spot generously donated a portion of the cost of the Christmas trees.
There will be dozens of exciting items offered in the silent auction, which will close just before dinner. One of the items to be auctioned off will be an airplane trip for four to a nearby island of the high bidder's choice.
David Trask of Good Spirits Catering will cater the dinner, and keyboardist Patrick Baron and singer Judi Fricks will entertain.
The price for the gala is $150 per person; reservations are required.
