Brief: Botanical Garden to Close for Christmas Day, Adults Parade

Dec. 23, 2006 — St. George Village Botanical Garden will be open to visitors throughout the holiday season except Christmas Day. According to a release, the garden will also be closed on Saturday, Jan. 6 for the Crucian Christmas Festival Adults Parade.
Typically, everyone heading west to Frederiksted on Jan. 6 will be going to the parade, said Lesley Hoffman, administrative director of the Garden. This year we have decided to close on that day to allow everyone to get to enjoy the annual festival.
The 16-acre garden, located in Estate St. George just off Queen Mary Highway about a quarter-mile west of Plaza Extra West, offers visitors a self-guided walking tour that takes about an hour. It is the only garden in the U.S. Virgin Islands devoted to raising the awareness of the importance of plants of the region.
