Rotary II Announces Car Raffle Winners

May 1, 2007 – The winners of Rotary II's annual car raffle were drawn at the regular Wednesday luncheon meeting at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef's Windows on the Harbor restaurant on April 25.
The winners are as follows:
Grand Prize–Car — Alex Tomas
Cruise for Two — Stuart Scott
$1500 Cash — Alberto Bruno-Vega
$1000 Cash — Archie Jennings
In a particularly appealing offering this year, Grand Prize winner Mr. Tomas, will have his choice between a 2007 Pontiac Torrent SUV type vehicle or a 2007 Pontiac Solstice sports car. The grand prize has been provided with the generous aid of Caribbean Auto Mart, and the cruise for two was donated by West Indian Company. The club is planning to congratulate the winners in person at its May 9th meeting.
The raffle, which funds most of Rotary II's community outreach programs, will benefit such diverse causes as four Scholarships at UVI; sponsorship of Mathcounts; projects with Anna's Retreat Senior Center; the organization's adopted school, Adelita Cancryn Middle School; wheel chair distribution in Jamaica; high school and university programs such as Interact and ENRICH; Rotary II's highly acclaimed Saturday morning radio show REACH; and financial support for United Way and Beacon schools, to name just a few of the club's ongoing projects.
Club President Marilyn Blackhall said "We believe we have set a record in raffle sales this year and the whole club joins me in beaming with pride for what we have accomplished together." She also noted that special kudos go to Rotarian Al Loiten and wife, Monica, for their Herculean efforts in raffle sales.
