RHCA to Hold Salt Pond Cleanup

June 6, 2007 – The Red Hook Community Alliance, a non-profit organization, will hold a second cleanup of the Red Hook Salt Pond at 6:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 16. It is part of RHCA's Red Hook Salt Pond preservation effort made possible through a grant award from the Gulf of Mexico Community-based Restoration Partnership. The RHCA is partnering with the V.I. Division of Fish and Wildlife on this project.
Members of the St. Thomas community are greatly needed to assist with the volunteer effort at the pond. Volunteers are asked to meet at the dirt road east of the pond. Please wear long pants, work shoes, a long-sleeved shirt and gloves. Water and trash bags will be provided, and first aid kits and hand sanitizer will be available. This cleanup is an important step toward prepping the pond for the installation of a boardwalk and viewing platforms.
For further information, call RHCA President Andrea King at 344-2143 or see our Web site at www.rhca.vi for updates.
