ITS Connecting New ACC Complex to University's Communication System
UVI's Information Technology Services department is in the process of connecting the new Administration and Conference Center (ACC – formerly known as the Harvey Center) on the St. Thomas campus to the University's communications system. Buildings on both the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses are connected via high speed optical fiber. This allows persons in each building to access UVI network resources and the main telephone system. The work that is underway will connect the ACC via fiber to the rest of the St. Thomas campus, allowing it to become a redundant hub – along with Penha House – for network and telephone system resources. The work schedule is as follows: Thursday (July 26) from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 27-29) from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. each day. Only UVI network resources for both campuses will be interrupted during these times. Telephone service will not be affected. For details, contact the UVI Help Desk at 693-1466.
