DOH Postpones Dengue Free Zone Meeting

Aug. 16, 2007 – The Department of Health's Dengue Free Zone meeting, which was scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Bertha C. Boschulte Junior High School, has been postponed until further notice due to impending weather conditions, according to a press release from DOH.
DOH epidemiologist Dr. Eugene Tull and Francine Lang, the department's environmental health director, were scheduled to discuss the Dengue Free Zone Initiative, which is part of the department's ongoing education campaign to teach residents on how best to rid their homes and businesses from the mosquitoes that transmit the dengue fever virus.
Representatives from the St. Thomas Administrator's Office, V.I. Waste Management Authority as well as DOH executive staff were scheduled to be present at the meeting. Health Commissioner Designee Vivian I. Ebbesen-Fludd said that the public would be notified when the meeting has been rescheduled.
