Alert: Failed Sewage Line Creates Hazard Around LBJ Housing Complex

Aug. 27, 2007 — A sewage line in the LBJ Housing Complex on St. Croix has suffered structural failure, creating a sizable pool behind Building B, according to an advisory issued by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR).
“The area is completely saturated, resulting in streams of sewage impacting the properties adjacent to and beyond the affected area,” the advisory says.
DPNR is advising the public to avoid the impacted areas around the complex, especially Building B. Children and adults with compromised immune systems should be especially careful.
“Standing or running water in these areas may contain contaminants or pollutants harmful to human health,” the advisory says. DPNR will continue to monitor the impacted area.
