Brief: Man Gunned Down in Altona Bar

Aug. 30, 2007 — Police are investigating the death of 26-year-old Samuel Nova Valdez, who was gunned down Thursday inside the Marlins Bar in the Altona area on St. Thomas.
On Friday, police issued a wanted poster for Luther Thomas, 40, in connection with the shooting. "Subject is considered armed and dangerous," the poster says.
According to an official statement, the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between Valdez and another unidentified male and was reported around 4:53 p.m.
The victim, a native of the Dominican Republic, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The exact number of wounds and the cause of death have yet to be determined, the release said.
