Sept. 4, 2007 – Come enjoy classical music featuring flutist Jennifer Ann Gallegos at sunset, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at Beach Side Café at Sand Castle On The Beach Hotel, in Frederiksted.
Jennifer began playing the flute at the age of 14 in Indianapolis under the tutelage of Alice Aiken of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, studied at the Jordan School of Music at Butler University. Gallegos graduated from the Center for Performing Arts in 1987, studied at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and continued her flute studies in 1999 at New York University. She has performed with the Cincinnati Repertoire Ensemble, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Charlotte Symphony.
Since moving to St. Croix from New York six years ago, she has performed throughout the Virgin Islands as a solo artist as well as with groups. For the past four years, she has played flute and guitar in a duo with St. Croix's virtuoso guitarist, Steve Katz. She performs on his CDs, El Viajero and Dance of the Brujas.
