Store Owner Found Shot to Death in Hospital Ground

Dec. 11, 2007 — Police are investigating the murder of 29-year-old Saker H. Mohammed, a St. Thomas native gunned down late Monday evening in Hospital Ground.
Mohammed is the owner of EZ Grocery, a convenience store in the area.
Police received reports between 10:09 and 10:14 p.m. Monday of shots being fired in Hospital Ground, according to a recent news release. Officers responding to the scene found Mohammed, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, lying motionless next to his vehicle.
"Police say the store was closed and locked, and it appeared that the victim was preparing to leave the area," the release says. Though police have not yet ruled out robbery as a motive, the incident is still under investigation. The V.I. Police Department has no additional details on the shooting and investigators are still trying to find out what led to Saker's death, St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Rodney Querrard said Monday afternoon.
