Cycling Season Starts on Sunday

Jan. 10, 2008 – The first race of the 2008 cycling season will be the 'Anything Goes No. 1 Race' on Sunday, Jan. 13. It will start on the North Shore at the foot of La Vallee and finish north of Frederiksted at the entrance to Clover Crest, near Hams Bluff, according to a press release from the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation. Each athlete will choose the route and type of bike he or she wishes to ride. There are at least four viable routes for road bikes and two for mountain bikes. The winners will be the riders who match fitness with their knowledge of navigation and topography.
The race will start at 7 a.m., and registration will open at 6:30 a.m., at La Vallee. Parking will be at Rust op Twist. For further information, call 773-8456.
