Alert: Blasting Scheduled Monday Afternoon for Christiansted Bypass

March 7, 2008 — Blasting work will take place between 1 and 3 p.m. Monday as work continues on the Christiansted Bypass project.
The blasting operation will only occur as needed during the excavation phase, according to a news release from the Department of Public Works. A warning horn will sound before blasting in intervals of one hour, 30 minutes, five minutes and within one minute. An all-clear horn will sound after the blast takes place.
"We ask area residents and the motoring public to adhere to the notifications and any instructions that may be given by the contractors working in the area to ensure your personal safety," said Public Works Commissioner Darryl A. Smalls, according to the release.
