Arts Alive Presents the Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Festival

April 12, 2008 – The Arts Alive Annual Springtime Arts and Crafts Festival is coming again to Tillett Gardens. It will be a weekend with great opportunities to get your Mother's Day shopping started, see the work of local artists, listen to the sounds of local musicians and eat great food. The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4.
Live entertainment and music will start at noon and continue throughout each day until 4 p.m. There will be a raffle prize fundraiser all weekend with winners announced hourly as well a silent auction with great items to bid on.
Here is a sampling of some of the fantastic artists that were featured in last years show:
Fine artists: Gerard Lehner – Prints and lithographs; Shirley Stendahl-McLeod – Limited edition prints, oils and watercolors; Arroyo Rivas – Acrylics and gouache paintings; Larry Industrious – Colored pencil drawings; and the Tillett Gallery – Silk Screen island maps.
Jewelry makers: Caribbean Glo – Handmade beaded jewelry; Tiffany Miller – Beaded jewelry and accessories; Betsy Pfordresher-LaPlace – Original sterling silver and gold jewelry; Leah Norton – Wire wrapped jewelry; Lisa Nuñes – Handcrafted beaded jewelry; Staci Morgan – Custom beaded jewelry; Carla Clausen – Handmade silver and pearl jewelry; Water Candy – Sea glass jewelry.
Clay Artists: Alison's Wonderland – Sculpture, sconces, napkin holders, bird feeders; Everyday Clay Studio (inside the Tillett Gallery) – ceramist; Ridván Studio – Vases, wall sculpture, tiles and more.
Crafts: Caribbean Herbals Candles & Soaps; Mary Mercer – Handmade soaps and lotions; Cheryl's Taste of Paradise – Homemade Sauces, Jerks and Jams; Sharon Venzen – Afro-centric creations; Dorothy Mercer – Handcrafted purses and guava berry liqueur; Cindy Male – Fiber Art; Merry Phillips – Handmade Christmas ornaments; Linda Wilcox – Scented and beaded ornaments; Laurie Hamilton – Fabric covers and beaded ornaments; Tulip Fleming – Plants in calabash, coconut and driftwood; Hand Paint'd Company – Hand painted silk, glass clothing and tiles; Treasures of Zion – All natural body products, home décor items, clothing and more; Blaire Hughes – Photography; Dennis Parker – Wood crafts; Virgin Glass – Stained glass art; and Valorie Stevens – Unique and one of a kind candles.
Food: Jack's Restaurant – If you haven't tried their wings, you don't know Jack!; Harriett Mercer – local foods, funnel cakes and local drinks; and Ras Ko-Nya – Local vegetarian cuisine.
