Everyone talks about what is wrong with these islands but sometimes something right happens out of a wrong. April 9 was a disaster. I walked into my office building at 7:30 am and it had been broken into. I called 911. They responded within 5 mins. and helped me through a very stressful morning professionally and with warmth. The first official on the scene was Office Loubie, the traffic officer at Mandela Circle. She immediately called for backup and cruisers came immediately with officers quickly and expertly assessing the situation and damage. They checked the whole premises and called forensics which showed up in an hour. The reporting officer was K. Rhymer. I am sorry that I didn't get everyone's names. They were terrific. Comm. McCall and Chief Querrard, you have a right to be proud of your St. Thomas officers. They instilled in me that day a feeling of safety and security.
And then within an hour of this we now know the incredible mobilization that took place at the Bovoni dump fire. We should all be very proud of our first responders and fire service and everyone involved that day. They performed extraordinarily under extreme conditions. A huge thank you from grateful citizens.
Another huge thank you to Dianne and Barbara at Calypso and Robert Querrard, Francois and his helper, Luna and Alert 1 who all mobilized within hours to get me back in business!
And note to the bad guys. Your days are numbered. The good guys always win in the end!
