Dear Source:
WAPA director Hugo Hodge, Jr. in his request for another WAPA rate increase, declares that 'money doesn't matter.' Hello??? If money doesn't matter, why does he ask for another rate increase? If money does matter, why doesn't WAPA collect it from what the USVI government owes? Ever heard of downsizing? Cost containment? Using receivables to upgrade equipment?
Taxpayers/ratepayers can no longer afford to fund this dinosaur. We've already changed out our light bulbs, can't the government do the same? We don't leave our lights on, why does the government? 10,000 government employees sitting around eating their meals all day does nothing to comfort any of us who foot that bill.
Something has to give, and I suspect most people will spend their money on food first.
