Alert: Frenchtown Parking Lot Closing for Father's Day Preps

June 6, 2008 — The parking lot north of the Normandie Bar building and west of the Joseph Aubain Ballpark will close from Sunday through June 18 in preparation for Father's Day celebrations.
The news comes from the Committee for the Betterment of Carenage (CBC).
"The closing of the parking lot is necessary to allow the committee to construct the mini-village for the annual Father's Day activities," said Gail Joseph, chairperson of the weekend celebration. Any vehicle left in the parking lot after June 8 will be towed at the owner's expense.
The Father's Day weekend celebration is returning to the parking lot venue where it had been staged for a number of years. The new owners of the Normandie Bar building, which houses Betsy's Bar and restaurant, have granted CBC authorization to host the annual celebration at the site where it had been for many years, Joseph said. For the past several years, the mini-village was erected within the ballpark.
The annual celebration will begin at 7 p.m. June 13 with a ribbon cutting and an opening ceremony. More details on this year's celebration, the entertainment schedule and this year's honorees will be forthcoming.
