Senators Need to do What’s Best for the Virgin Islands

Dear Source,
I commend the governor for bringing the Captain Morgan deal to the table. Unlike all our previous governors, De Jongh is an established business man, not just a politician. What business deals do the senators have on the table? None, just the usual, how to tear apart all viable economic opportunities for St. Croix.
Should Cruzan Rum should be given the same tax benefits and incentives offered to Diageo? Absolutely, Yes! The fact that representatives of Cruzan Rum were included in the negotiations and agreed to the deal is positive indeed. I pray the senators take the time to review this deal, without the usual prejudices or personal vendettas, and do what is in the best interest of the Virgin Islands.
Angelita Suarez
St. Croix
