Dear Source:
VI Inspector General Steven van Beverhoudt, the Department of Interior, whistle blowers and the members of the media should be commended on their actions as it relates to any and all audit investigations completed by the Offices of Inspectors General. Working with limited funds, the VIIG has saved the Government of the Virgin Islands millions of dollars and has given the public greater faith in government. Illegal gains made from officials should not be tolerated and justice should be served following these investigations. Given that we collect close to 1 billion in revenues by the government, it seams that only 2 percent of our budget is money well spent by taxpayers by this office. Imagine if the VIIG office had 35 to 40 employees as recommended instead of 23?
I suspect we will be seeing many more audit reports by the VIIG in the near future. Thank you VI Inspector General Steven van Beverhoudt and I urge the public to visit www.viig.org to read any and all of the reports that available to for public review. Especially by those officials who should be implementing the recommendations of these important reports and thank you to those who have followed and implemented these recommendations in a prompt manner.
