Pedestrian Killed in Weekend Car Accident

Aug. 12, 2008 — While attempting to cross the street near Red Hook Plaza around 10 p.m. Sunday, 24-year-old Ashley Holdcraft was hit by a car and killed, according to a police news release.
Police reports indicate that a 47-year-old man — a Wintberg resident whose name has not yet been released — was driving east near Red Hook on Nicholas Friday Drive, when he "collided" with Holdcraft, the release said.
Holdcraft was subsequently transported by ambulance to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Few other details, such as the condition of the driver, have been released.
No citations have been issued at this time, but the accident is being investigated by the V.I. Police Department's Traffic Investigation Bureau, according to the release.
