LEPC Receives Grant to Fight Violence Against Women

Aug. 14, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) has received a grant of $628,938 from the U.S. Department of Justice, according to a press release from Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen.
LEPC will use the funding for the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program, which was designed to encourage the development and implementation of effective, victim-centered law enforcement, prosecution and court strategies to address violent crimes against women. STOP envisions partnership among law enforcement, prosecution, courts and victim services organizations to enhance victim safety and hold offenders accountable.
