Sept. 7, 2008 — A weekend shooting incident involving a federal law enforcement officer has left one St. Thomas resident dead, according to a police news release.
The shooting claimed the life of an unidentified 44-year-old male, the report said. An investigation has been launched into shooting, which took place around 10:50 a.m. Sunday at Mahogany Run on St. Thomas.
Police, responding to a call of shots being fired in the area, arrived on the scene to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he died. The officer was unharmed, Police Commissioner James H. McCall said when contacted Sunday evening.
Few other details are known, but McCall said the V.I. Police Department will work on putting out more information over the next couple of days.
