Pistarckle Will Present 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey, a comedic drama starring Bob Peterson, Drew Brown and Laura Jakobysian and directed by Frank Bartolucci, will come to life on Pistarckle Theater's stage on Oct. 30.
The stark, sterile, and uniformed life of the patients of a hard-nosed mental facility is turned upside down by the arrival of Randall McMurphy (Bob Peterson), a rowdy, rebellious, smart-mouthed gambler. At once, he surveys the crowd of acute mental patients and rises to the position of "bull-goose looney." Among a host of colorful characters, he is most touched by his apparent polar opposite Chief Bromden (Drew Brown), a big, burly Indian with the mentality of a mouse. The rebellious McMurphy challenges the authority of Nurse Ratched (Laura Jakobysian) by opening the eyes of the once-docile patients and leading them on a host of mini-rebellions to overthrow her dictatorship. The road to freedom in this production is both touching and hilarious.
Performances at Pistarckle Theater are at 8 p.m., on Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1, 7 and 8, and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8. For tickets, call 775-7877.
