UVI Trustees OK Final Section of Policy Manual

Nov. 2, 2008 — The University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees Saturday approved the last remaining sections of the Faculty Policy Manual during a meeting at the St. Croix campus.
The trustees OK'd the sections on process for tenure, professional development for tenured faculty, provisions for summer insurance and the section on grievance and complaint procedures on which the faculty and administration had previously agreed.
All other sections of the policy manual had been ratified and approved at previous meetings.
The Saturday meeting was the first as chair for Alexander Moorhead. He began the meeting by welcoming two new trustees: S. Donald Sussman, chairman of Trust Asset Management, and Student Trustee Kevin Seldridge.
The trustees also amended the university's fiscal year 2009 operating budget, lowering it from $51.7 million to $48.6 million. The change became necessary when the V.I. government appropriated $4.2 million less than the university had requested.
