Where Was the Media?

Dear Source:
Is there an election today? If one only looked the VI Source and Daily News on Monday, they might not even know today is Election Day. There was no voting guide in the Daily News Monday edition, none online on the VI Source nor Daily News website. The Tuesday edition of the Daily News does list the candidates, but how does this prepare the public to make an educated vote?
The VI Source did have an ad for the AARP Voting guide, which is available online and speaks to the issues relevant to its membership base. But that is all we found for the local election.
Locally, many are very excited about the prospects for Obama and it is good to see people thinking about national politics. But what about those that will affect our local situation? I urge all to vote and to vote with as much education about the candidates as you can find. And for next election, I urge the local media to present more information about the candidates.
