Perception is an interesting thing. This 27th Legislature thinks that they did a great job. Meanwhile, most citizens just shook their heads with disappointment, anger, and absolute
disdain at the immature behavior demonstrated by regular name-calling; grand-standing; power struggles against The Executive Branch of Government; lack of professionalism; in-fighting and personal agendas; inability to listen to the people's will; absenteeism from important sessions; numerous attempts to create divisiveness between the many different peoples that call the VI's their home; the ignoring of Bill #6905 that really showed a lack of interest in the will of the people of the VI's.
A number of these Senators even attempted to stop a radio station that allowed people to really discuss their honest concerns, as is encouraged by the Constitution of The united States and recall those responsible for Bill #6905. These outgoing Senators are still in denial about the dissatisfaction of their work as Senators in the people's eyes.
I believe that the people of The Virgin Islands have woken up! We are entitled to a Legislature that represents us and our many concerns in the Territories. I hope that our incoming 28th. Legislative Body understands the importance of their role in bringing about a serious and positive change from the 27th.
We simply have way too many needs for the constant and continual infighting and political games between Senate members. We need a team of Representatives that works with The Governor to get us through these hard economical times. I am hoping that in two years we can all feel that this 28th. Legislative Body demonstrated all of the traits so sorely and obviously lacking from their predecessors.
