District Governor Visits St. Croix Rotary Clubs

Dec. 8, 2006 – The Rotary Clubs of St. Croix will host District Governor Rupert W. Ross Jr. from Dec. 9-12, on his official visit to his home island. The official purpose of his visit is to evaluate the status of the clubs' service projects and participate in various fellowship activities. During his visit, Ross will meet with all four St. Croix Rotary Clubs: Rotary Club of St. Croix – James M. Oliver, president; Rotary Club St. Croix West – Lula M. Parris, president; Rotary Club St. Croix MidIsle – Marcel L. Galiber, president; and Rotary Club St. Croix Harborside – Bryan D. Ridgway, president.
Local Rotary service projects include:
· A-Z Academy/4-Way Test Coloring Book and Future Site for Bonnie's Playground for disabled children project– Rotary Club of St. Croix;
· Frederiksted Boys & Girls Club sponsorship and donations, St. Croix Cardiac Center contribution, My Brother's Table soup kitchen – Rotary Club St. Croix West;
· Boys & Girl Club review renovations done by club using District Simplified Grant, Golden Rock intersection beautification project and Lighthouse Mission homeless breakfast program– Rotary Club St. Croix MidIsle
· Project with Boys & Girls Club kids to create Christmas ornaments – Rotary Club St. Croix Harborside.
The district governor will meet with each of the clubs boards to review projects and status. On Thursday and Friday, he will meet with Interact Clubs at Good Hope School, Central High School, St. Croix Educational Complex and Country Day School, and on Saturday he will meet with the Rotaract Club.
In addition to the project visits and meetings, the Ross is scheduled for the following fellowship activities:
· On Wednesday, a briefing by district officers and cocktails
· On Thursday, an evening of Karaoke at Teddy's
· On Friday, the DG Joint Dinner and Address, 6:30 p.m., at Gertrude's Restaurant
DG Ross will hold a press conference at Gertrude's Restaurant at 10 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 12.
